Happy New Year!
The Middle School Committee meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, February 2nd at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held at 333 Seventh Avenue (between 28th and 29th Streets) on the 12th floor in the large conference room.
The next calendar/working business meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, February 25th at 6:30 pm. The location TBD.
Congratulations to the following schools and principals:
PS 150 for winning the National Blue Ribbon Award for academic excellence.
PS 2 recipient of an Apple ConnectED Grant which provides iPads, MacBooks, learning content, curriculum support, and wireless infrastructure.
PS 131 has been awarded a $25K planning grant to target professional development for staff to implement a Dual Language Program in English and Mandarin.
PS 124 won outstanding performance at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, GA. In addition, two students were invited to participate in the All Stars performance and music teacher, Ryan Olsen won a Freddy G. Teacher Fellowship Award
PS 33 Chess Team placed second in the National Chess Tournament which was held in Orlando, Florida.
The Clinton School for Writers was highlighted in the Chancellor's "Arts in Education Report" as a school that does exemplary work in music, visual and performing arts on a middle school level. PS 51 was also recognized for their work in integrating and implementing a strong arts program.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Rebecca Daniels. Rebecca served as president of CECD2 and was a tireless advocate for the District 2 community. She will be sorely missed.
