School News:
Irma Medina, Principal of PS/IS 111 has announced her retirement after more than 30 years of service to the DOE.

Students from City Knoll Middle School will engage in community service on Earth Day - April 22nd (after NYS math testing) by supporting a Hudson River Park Trust at Pier 84 and the habitayt garden.  These community service hours are logged by students in their portfolios toward a distinguished diploma awarded to 8th graders with 50 hours of community service.

The Clinton School for Writers and Artists has been chosen as Theater for a New Audience's School of the Year.  Each year a school is chosen based on their dedication to arts education.

Many Lower Lab students (PS 77) were celebrated on WPIX Channel 11 news for their work and dedication with this year's inside Broadway program.  City Councilman Dan Garodnik awarded PS 77 a CASA grant.  This generous grant allowed Principal Goldspiel to fund Inside Broadway as an afterschool program.  Students had the opportunity to paint the backdrop, audition for different roles, learn choreography, and spend time learning about improvisation and public speaking which culminated with a special assembly performance.

PS 527 students participated in a social action event on Friday, April 17th to benefit the NY Common Pantry.  Students assembled over 200 bagged lunches and delivered them to the pantry to help NY families in need.
