District 2 Presidents' Council Welcome to the District 2 Presidents' Council (D2PC) web page. The objectives of the D2PC are to provide support and resources to constituent Parent Associations and Parent-Teacher Associations (PA/PTAs) in the District 2. We also support District 2 goals and initiatives leading to improved student achievement; develop parent leadership and build capacity for greater involvement; foster and encourage parent participation on all levels; and provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school governance and decision-making. 2023-2024 School Year Meeting Dates (all meetings start at 9:00AM): Mon., Dec 4 Mon, Jan. 8 Mon., Feb. 5 Mon., Mar. 4 Mon., Apr. 8 Mon., May 6 Thur., June 20 District 2 P residents' Council sends out meeting notices at least ten days prior to each meeting; please confirm meeting date, time and location, as they are subject to change. Safety & School Climate Safety & School Climate Committee Chair: Erin Khar Members: Tal Maisel Shay, Rachel Kenny (student member ) Committee Overview The Social Emotional Learning and School Climate Committee will share resources with families about current SEL school practices and initiatives and how to support students’ social and emotional growth. Additionally, we will monitor DOE reports on school climate and provide a forum for families to discuss any SEL or school climate concerns and/or needs about their school environment, particularly in the context of post-pandemic challenges and current world traumas. There will be opportunities to learn from experts in the field and practitioners on the ground. Committee Meeting: February 29, 2024 The Social Emotional Learning and School Climate Committee held a meeting on February 29, 2024. The meeting was a presentation by members of the NYCDOE’s Office of Safety and Youth Development, LGBTQ+ Programs. The presentation covered NYCPS policies and city, state and federal policies that protect and affirm LGBTQ+ students, including the what/how/why of LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum in the classroom and how to respond to push-back.
