Helping our School Communities A message from the PS 51 PTA: One of our schools, PS 51 located at 525 w 44th St, is in need of support. They currently have 89 students in temporary shelters which is a quarter of their entire school population. The Principal, teachers, and parents have gone above and beyond to ensure that students feel welcome and that they are valued members of the community. This school community is a shining example of the promise of public schools to educate all children regardless of their background. PS 51 needs help restocking their food pantry and supply closet that contains toiletries and other essentials. Leila Colbert, the PTA Co-President, has put together the attached flyer with a link to an Amazon wishlist. All purchase will be shipped directly to the school. There is also a link to the PS 51 website where donations can be made. Even a donation of $5 makes a difference! I hope that you will keep this school in mind when considering end-of-year giving. CEC D2 Vacancy CEC2 currently has a vacant seat on its council and is currently accepting applications. CEC2 is an education council that advocates on behalf of all students in District 2. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible, you must have a child currently attending a District 2 elementary or middle school, and your child must have or have had an “ELL” (English Language Learner) Designation. In addition, you must be able to attend the CEC2 monthly meetings. APPLICATION Please apply to the DOE directly at CCECinfo@schools.nyc.gov . Do not submit the application to CEC2.
